Pandemic Opens Door to Universal Basic Income Programs in the US


The COVID-19 pandemic devastated towns like Chelsea, MA with a one, two punch: infection rates and unemployment. As food pantries failed to serve those in need efficiently, according to city leaders, the town launched a guaranteed basic income pilot program called, “Chelsea Eats.”

The group Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, is looking for ways to expand the program to other parts of the country.
