An Open Invitation to Discovering the World of World Missions
Pentecostals with a passion for missions from around the world are gathering in Medellín, Colombia, this September for a joint WAGF/PWF World Missions Congress.
This September, the World Assemblies of God Fellowship and the Pentecostal World Fellowship are coming together to host the sixth World Missions Congress, bringing thousands of missions-minded Pentecostal leaders and believers from around the world to Medellín, Colombia.
Brad Walz, chairman of the Missions Commission for the World AG Fellowship and an AGWM missionary, says the Sept. 27-30 event is one every missions-minder leader — no matter what the level of leadership or the country — will learn from and celebrate.
“District superintendents, missions leaders, pastors, laypeople, anyone with a heart for missions will be inspired by the messages and the fellowship with this worldwide community of Pentecostal believers who have a passion for missions,” Walz says. “This is also the ideal place for those wanting to explore launching into missions or how to accelerate the growth and effectiveness of their missions program.”
The conference itself offers five plenary sessions with speakers and moderators from around world and cover topics such as: Excellence in Theology, What Senders Must Do, Excellence in Sending, What Intercessors Must Do, and Excellence in Our Work. The conference also offers daily morning devotional messages; nine different workshops and networking opportunities; and three evening services.
Walz says that all messages will be presented in English and Spanish, with translation headsets available for individuals who aren’t proficient in either language. For example, at the Madrid Missions Congress in 2018, there were headsets for 11 languages.
Although some may not be familiar with Medellín (pronounced by locals as “Med-a-zhín” or “Med-a-yeen” by some other Spanish-speaking countries), its nickname is the City of Eternal Spring for its temperate climate. Walz says finding a flight into the city of about 4 million should not be difficult as numerous flights per day originate from Miami alone. What’s more, Colombia just recently became one of only four countries in the world to drop all COVID-19-related entry requirements.
“The main thing about the Missions Congress,” Walz says, “is that it’s a great way to get the pulse on what God is doing in the world — not just what is being accomplished through the United States’ church for missions, but what God is doing through the churches of the other 90 to 100 countries represented . . . and you just don’t get that many countries together without something powerful happening!”
In addition to the Missions Congress, a pre-Congress meeting for executive leaders involved with MM33 will convene. MM33 is based on a prophetic word given by the late and former WAGF chairman, George O. Wood, to see the World Assemblies of God grow to one million churches (currently at 370,000) by 2033.
