Over the last 8 years, FAI teams have pioneered initiatives in a concentrated and coordinated advance across strategic regions throughout the 10/40 Window. We are grateful to God for all He has done to open doors and send laborers.
If disciple-making is akin to a harvest (Luke 10:2), any good farmer must first buy a field. This is access. Many of our teams have secured unprecedented access to unreached/unengaged areas and people groups. Once access is secured, field workers can begin to sow seeds. After seeds are sown and the soil is nurtured, the rightful owner of the field can harvest the field. Ultimately, every strategic access platform (like our various relief initiatives) is a means to buy fields.
Just as Hudson Taylor has prayed for the Lord’s provision for men, access, and means, we’ve been blown away for nearly a decade at how and whom the Lord provides. We are grateful for access, growth, and faithful, diligent sowing of fruit-bearing seeds. This has been made possible by the generous and sacrificial support of like-minded family and friends the world over. You have an inheritance in this harvest. You have a legacy in these fields.
THIRD QUARTER 2019
MATCHING CAMPAIGN PRIORITIES:
1. THE MOBILIZATION INITIATIVE
A year after launching The Mobilization Initiative, we’ve seen the Lord send scores of ready Global South workers to the field—and more are waiting on standby. This unique Initiative is truly a global effort for a global work: The Body of Jesus sends ready, willing, and able workers from the Global South who are resourced by the Body in the West to serve and bring forth the Body in the East. Funds for this Initiative are a priority in this campaign, and will fund new Global South workers to hit the ground running.
2. MEDICAL SUPPLIES
As most of our access platforms are aid-based humanitarian relief initiatives, the demand for supplies and medicine to stock our clinics and serve our patients never lessens. Jesus’ ministry in the Gospels followed a “preach and heal” model, as He so often preached the Gospel and healed the sick everywhere He went. Let’s do likewise. New relationships are born when material needs are met, and are nurtured when spiritual needs are met.
3. OPERATIONAL EXPENSES
These expenses don’t “share” easily on social media, but are the consistent undercurrent to everything we do. These expenses turn on the lights in the clinic. They put gas in the truck to get to an almost-inaccessible area. All the menial, trivial stuff that makes the proverbial engine run so we can drive the car and move the wheels—those are operational expenses no one ever hears about, but they are an ongoing and critical need.
