Many are likely unfamiliar with Nagorno-Karabakh, a small, landlocked region between Armenia and Azerbaijan, two former countries that were once part of the Soviet Union. Mainly inhabited by Armenian Christians, the area’s tensions have reached a fever pitch. “It’s kind of on this land bridge between Iran, Turkey, and Russia,” Joel Veldkamp, head of international communications at persecution watchdog Christian Solidarity International (CSI), recently told CBN’s Faithwire. “[It’s] a very complicated part of the world.” Watch Veldkamp explain the issues and break down why the world must help prevent the unthinkable.
