US stocks plunged yesterday after new data showed inflation to be higher than investors expected, triggering the steepest market sell-off in two years. A government report showed inflation cooled only to 8.3% in August, instead of the 8.1% analysts predicted.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Tuesday unveiled a plan to ban abortion nationwide after 15 weeks of pregnancy, stirring up fresh debate in both parties just weeks before the midterm elections.

Twitter’s former security chief testified before Congress yesterday that the platform’s allegedly weak cybersecurity is putting users’ privacy at risk and making them vulnerable to “teenagers, thieves and spies.”
