Three Things for September 29
1. Lee men’s golf’s Burnette wins Cougar Invitational
For the 4th time in his Lee career, Beck Burnette won an individual tournament for the Flames’ golf team. The senior communication and business double-major continues one of the most decorated careers in the history of the program with the win.
Burnette finished five-under par for the tournament, winning over the second-place finisher at one-under.

The Flames are ranked first in the country in the early-season polls, and finished in second place for the weekend.
“He is a special player, and a great leader for our team,” Director of Golf John Maupin told Lee’s athletic communications this week.
2. Hurricane Ian makes landfall in southern Florida
Hurricane Ian hit the southwest coast of Florida as a category-4 storm early Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Thousands of Florida-natives evacuated their homes, following urges from the state’s government, and Walt Disney World shut down its parks for the rest of the week.

According to CNN, it marks one of strongest hurricanes to ever hit the west-coast side of the peninsula.

3. Jeffrey Dahmer series released on Netflix; victims’ families speaking out
After Netflix released a drama series documenting Jeffrey Dahmer’s life and crimes, the families of his Dahmer’s victims are urging viewers to think of their loved ones.

Eric Perry, the cousin of one of Dahmer’s 17 victims, took to Twitter to voice his concerns over the Netflix series.
“It’s retraumatizing over and over again, and for what?” Perry said. “How many movies/shows/documentaries do we need?”
Neither Netflix nor “Dahmer” star Evan Peters have released a statement in response to Perry’s concerns.
