Ian strengthened into a hurricane again as it moved across the Atlantic Ocean overnight, and is expected to make landfall in South Carolina today. The entire South Carolinian coast is under emergency warning while Florida residents survey the storm’s catastrophic damage to their homes and lives.

Moscow is expected to annex parts of Ukraine today after this week’s referendum in four regions. The West denounced the elections as a sham.

NATO officials believe two Baltic Sea natural gas pipelines were sabotaged and say the military alliance will retaliate for attacks on its vital infrastructure. The Swedish Coast Guard found a fourth leak in the pipeline running from Russia to Germany.

And, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed 13 new abortion and reproductive health bills into law Tuesday strengthening California’s already robust allowances for abortion. Pro-life advocates are condemning the move as “horrendous.”
