“I am excited to see Storm’s residents come to compete but also have fun,” said Lorielen Sullivan, Storms-Field residential director.

This year, upperclassmen dorms were ready to compete.

“We want to change the narrative of being a joke dorm [contestant] and come away with the win,” said Zack McDonald, Brinsfield-Hicks (Bricks) residential assistant.

Storms-Field also brought home the first place trophy for women, leaving Brinsfield with a complete sweep of the competition.

“The hype team is a core of our entire organization, with the hype team comes victory,” said Paul Atherton, Medlin hype team member.

This year, Dorm Wars partnered with The Boys and Girls Club of the Ocoee Region’s YouthCore program.

“It opens doors and avenues to jobs and now offers business, animation and soft skills classes,” according to the Boys and Girls Club.

Dorm Wars also gives faculty a chance to participate in the competition.

“I was a RD at the first Dorm Wars, and I actually voted against it because I did not like the word ‘wars.’ It is funny, but it continues,” said Suzanne Holt, vice president for student success and retention. “It is exciting to see the tradition continued.”

“I am most excited to cheer on everyone else with us and be one whole with Res Life, which only happens once a year at Dorm Wars,” said Gracie Miller, New Hughes residential assistant.
