Mark 13:1-14:2: Great tribulation
Because its guardians rejected the true Lord of the Temple, it would face desecration and destruction (13:2, 14). Like Jesus, his followers would also face hardship. But just as Jesus accurately predicted the Temple’s demise, he can be trusted in his promise of ultimate vindication (13:24-27). The final consummation’s precise time, however, is not known even to Jesus (or to Mark, or to us … 13:32), so all must remain watchful.
