California Republican Congressman Mike Garcia won re-election Wednesday putting the GOP at 218 seats and handing House control to Republicans for the first time since 2018.
The House Finance Committee is investigating the collapse and bankruptcy of the Crypto exchange FTX, run by entrepreneur and previously hailed crypto-hero Sam Bankman-Fried. The debacle could cost customers billions of dollars in losses.
Thousands of Americans have signed a petition urging the Biden administration to take a tougher stand against the killing and persecution of Nigerian Christians. Last year, the State Department removed Nigeria from the religious persecution watch list.
And a vehicle headed the wrong way struck 25 sheriff academy recruits while they were on a run in Los Angeles County, critically injuring five, in what is being investigated as an accident.
