Why China’s Citizens Took to the Streets Amid Horrific Zero COVID Lockdown Chaos
With China’s zero COVID policies under fire, the nation has reportedly said it would ease lockdowns in the Xinjiang (East Turkistan). The latest development to spark outrage and rare protests around China was a fire at an apartment building in Urumqi on Thursday that killed at least 10 people. Video purportedly showed lockdown measures creating barriers that prevented firefighters from helping those trapped in the building, with some reports claiming zero COVID measures left people trapped inside their apartments. Some, though, believe something more sinister was afoot. Salih Hudayar, prime minister of the East Turkistan Government-in-Exile, told CBN’s Faithwire about the horrific fire, why he believes the Uyghur genocide could play a role, and what he makes of the massive protests — and the government’s reaction to the unrest. Hudayar believes the death count is much higher than the 10 admitted by officials, citing at least 44 killed. He also shared the back story he believes isn’t getting enough attention.
