Mark 7:24-8:34: Healing deafness, blindness–and blinded disciples
Jesus delivers the daughter of an insistent Gentile; he heals a deaf man and a blind man but refuses to jump through signs-skeptics hoops. Yet he confronts spiritual blindness among his own disciples. It took the first half of Mark for Peter to confess Jesus as Messiah. It will take the rest of the Gospel for him to recognize that Jesus’s Messiahship involves the Cross.
