Antigone cast approaches their final show, President Biden aiming to run

1. “Antigone” cast approaches their final show
Lee Theatre is heading into the final performances of “Antigone.”
Chair of Lee’s Communication Arts Department and show director, Dr. Christine Williams, brings Sophocles’ “Antigone” into a futuristic light, adding a twist on the classic.
The play will be held in the Buzz Oats Blackbox Theater on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free for Lee students, staff and faculty. For the community, tickets for students and seniors are $10, while adult tickets are $15.

2. President Biden aiming to run for re-election in 2023
With elections underway, U.S. President Joe Biden told reporters he has plans to push for a second term in office, though the plans will remain tentative until early next year.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has given the impression that he, too, will be running for re-election next year. Biden indicated Trump’s decision will not dictate his own plans.
“Our intention is to run again, that’s been our intention,” Biden said. “This is ultimately a family decision.”
Biden, who will turn 80 this month, began his political career in 1970, when he successfully ran for city council in New Castle County, Delaware. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1972, where he served until he became the vice president under Barack Obama in 2009.

3. Tropical Storm Nicole makes its way through multiple states
Tropical Storm Nicole brought heavy rain and 35 mph winds to the east coast of Florida on Thursday. Labeled as a Category 1 hurricane, Nicole is expected to move through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and potentially parts of New England.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center have predicted a few tornadoes may come out of the storm, causing concern for several populated areas.
“By the time we get to Friday night and into Saturday, the low pressure system associated with the storm is expected to be accelerating up the Appalachians,” said meteorologist David Roth.
The concern of overwhelming urban, populated areas is circulating across the East Coast, as Nicole travels her way into Georgia.
