‘Very Dangerous’: Persecution Experts Sound Alarm on Deadly Scene for Christians in India, Nigeria
David Curry, CEO of Global Christian Relief, and Joel Veldkamp, head of international communications at Christian Solidarity International, join CBN’s Faithwire to discuss two nations where Christian persecution is raging: India and Nigeria.
“India is the largest democracy and, in the last decade, you’ve seen a 300% rise in attacks against Christians and Christian churches,” Curry said, noting how a recent assault in Manipur, India, left 1,700 Christian homes destroyed and over 100 churches “burned to the ground.” He continued, “It started as a sort of a protest amongst tribal groups and somehow has now leaped over to an attack on churches and Christians.”
Veldkamp called the fighting “a very dangerous development,” and lamented the state of affairs. Both persecution experts also addressed Nigeria, the African nation that shot into the headlines in 2022 when a Christian college student was horrifically stoned to death. Veldkamp warned that some Muslim officials are using unfortunate methods to grow their support.
“They grow their power base … by encouraging Islamic extremism and anti-Christian extremism,” he said. Watch Curry and Veldkamp sound the alarm on the horrors unfolding inside both nations.
