More than 350 tech executives and scientists signed a joint statement to express their concerns and warn of the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI), going so far as to say it poses an “extinction risk” on par with pandemics and nuclear war. What has yet to be clearly defined is what is meant by the term “extinction risk.” Many pundits speculate that it can be caused by bad actors leveraging its massive data sets to create bioweapons or introduce new viruses.
