EU reinstates Palestinian development aid, reversing suspension.
The European Union, on Monday, backtracked from its initial decision to immediately suspend development aid for Palestinian authorities. Instead, the EU announced an urgent review of the assistance in light of Hamas’ attacks on Israel, aiming to ensure funds were not misused. The European Commission clarified in a terse statement that there would be no suspension of payments for now, contrary to Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi’s earlier announcement of an immediate halt to all payments and project reviews.
