Biden Arrives in Israel, Lawmakers Call for Freeze on Iran Payment, and House Speaker Drama #shorts
President Joe Biden arrived in Israel today, where he received thanks from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for giving his nation “the tools we need to defend ourselves.” This after hundreds of people were reportedly killed in an explosion at a Gaza hospital yesterday. Hamas blamed the blast on an Israeli airstrike, while the Israeli military blamed the terror group Islamic Jihad for the attack.
Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill are taking action to respond to the Israel-Hamas war by urging the Biden administration to freeze the $6 billion payment it made to Iran through Qatar as part of a prisoner exchange last month.
And Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan failed to receive enough votes to be elected as the new house speaker yesterday. Twenty Republicans voted against him, signaling the potential for several more rounds of voting.
