Pause in Gaza Fighting, Biden and Xi Meet, and Ethics Issue Around Hamas Journalist Embed #shorts
As the White House announced Israel would begin “pauses” in the Gaza war for humanitarian reasons, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that the pauses would be only in certain neighborhoods for the purpose of civilians trying to flee. He repeated that there will be no ceasefire until hostages are returned.
President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet Wednesday in California. Talks will include trade, Taiwan, and managing fraught U.S.-Chinese relations.
And the watchdog group Honest Reporting released an exposé that shows a Gaza-based freelance journalist documenting Hamas’ attack on Israel. Video shows Hassan Eslaiah, a freelancer for CNN and AP, entering Israel with Hamas on October 7th. Another video showed him pictured with Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the attack. Critics say that embed raises serious ethical questions. The AP said it had no knowledge of the attacks before they happened.
