What Does the World Need the Most? Part 1 :: By Keith Watts

I have a short testimony on a 40-day fast I did a few years ago later in this article. I am saying this because I don’t want you to open this article up and not read all of it.

First and foremost, the world needs Jesus. The world needs preachers to stand behind the pulpit and preach the true, sound doctrines of the Bible. The world needs true prayer warriors. The world needs prayer warriors to fast. You have these three together, and you have more power than anything on the face of the earth. These three together, the devil has a hard time going against this. The world has absolutely gone crazy. It seems like every new morning, the evil has grown so much overnight. If I am thinking in the flesh, it can make me uneasy. But then I get back to thinking about my Savior coming to take up His Bride, the Church. (Wow, what a wonderful thought!) With this thought in your mind, I want to get to what this article is all about.

Becoming men and women of prayer

When we see the condition of this world, we need to have as many prayer warriors in our ministry as we can. If you are overseeing a ministry, how many prayer warriors do you have? Are there prayer warriors praying and fasting through the week for you and your family, the services coming up, and the ministry?

I heard this years ago from Dr. James Dobson about his father. He said what should be written on his tombstone is, “He was a man of prayer.” When I heard this, I said to the Lord that I want to become a man of prayer. However, after 20 years in the ministry, I was still not a man of prayer. The number one reason was I was too busy working for Jesus. For the last 10 years in the ministry, I have been studying prayer. I have over 20 messages on the YouTube channel. This will be added to the list. It is downloading right now but may not finish in time.

I am reminded of a lady in the Bible. Her name was Anna. Luke 2:37 “And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” All the precious lady did for Jesus was pray and fast night and day. Can you imagine the rewards for Anna?

Psalms 91:1 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Moses knew about this verse. In Exodus 34, the Lord told Moses to come up to him on the mountain. Moses was up there on top of the mountain with the Lord for 40 days and nights. In verse 35, as Moses was coming down the mountain, the shekinah glory of God was shining all over him. His face was shining so much that he had to have a veil over his face. I want to ask you, pastor, church member, and Bible student, have you ever experienced being this close to the Lord in your walk with him? You can. We can be this close to the Lord, but it takes much work on our part to get to this place.

My testimony on the 40-day fast

In 2021, I did a 40-day fast. On the last day, it was a Friday from 7 pm to 12 midnight; the last five hours of this 40-day fast was the best 5 hours I have ever had. It was so wonderful that I am having a hard time putting it into words. At the start of this fast, my pastor and I were talking in his office, and he started asking me questions about fasting. I did not tell him I had just started a 40-day fast. At the end of the fast on Sunday, I told him that I finished a 40-day fast on Friday. He asked me a question that took me by surprise. He said, “How did you finish the fast?” I started crying and was trying to describe the last 5 hours of the fast to him.

About 6 weeks later, I started another 40-day fast on a Monday. On Wednesday, I ate some food and broke my vow with the Lord. That night at church, after talking to my pastor, church service started. Brother Jason went up there and led the first song. Brother Tony (my pastor) got up to the pulpit, looked at Brother Jason, and said these words to him: “How do some lose the presence of God all over them in a day?” I leaned over to my wife Jenni and said to her that Pastor Tony was talking about me, and the answer to his question was FOOD. That is sad but true. I’m telling you right now, I am longing for the presence of God to be all over me.

I was about 10 or 12 years old when I wanted to introduce myself to a preacher. As I walked up to a preacher, Lester Roloff, I could feel the presence of God all over him. (Remember, I was only 10 to 12 years old.)

When my Uncle Jessie got behind the pulpit every time to preach, it felt like he went up to Mount Sinai, received the message, and came down to the people to deliver it to them. I want more than anything for people to not say anything about me but that they feel the presence of God all over this preacher. Lord, please hear your servant’s cry.
