Children At Risk in World’s Poorest Countries

Food prices continue to rise in world’s poorest countries, putting the most vulnerable children at risk, warns World Vision. Wendy Griffith speaks to Hannah Chargin from the World Vision about the crisis. The discuss which countries are most impacted by the hunger crisis, how government and organizations can help, what it means to put our faith behind such efforts, and how World Vision is helping with boots on the ground. Prices have continued to rise in these countries, particularly those affected by violent conflict, climate extremes and forced displacement. Analysis of food prices from September 2023 shows that a food basket that would cost an average of 1.5 hours’ wages in Australia, Ireland or Singapore would cost the average person 36 days of wages in Burundi and 25 days in the Central African Republic. World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
