Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his 2024 bid for the GOP presidential nomination today with Elon Musk on Twitter. DeSantis is likely to be the strongest challenger to former President Donald Trump in the growing Republican field.
South Carolina’s Senate easily passed a law restricting abortions in the state to 6 weeks, the time when a fetal heartbeat can be detected. Governor Henry McMaster is expected to sign the bill, setting up an almost certain challenge in the South Carolina Supreme Court.
And a potentially “catastrophic” storm is headed for Guam and the Marianas Islands in the South Pacific. Meteorologists say Typhoon Mawar is already one of the strongest storms in decades and could bring highly damaging winds and heavy flooding to the islands in its path.
