Texas to Allow Chaplains in Schools, Debt Bill Passes Senate, and Black Market Marijuana #shorts
Senate lawmakers gave final approval to bipartisan legislation to raise the debt ceiling and cut spending to avert a disastrous government default. The measure now heads to President Joe Biden for his signature before Monday’s deadline.
Both houses of the Texas Legislature have passed a bill that would allow school districts to hire chaplains, using funds designated for public safety. Governor Greg Abbott is expected to sign the bill, which would take effect in September for the 2023-24 school year.
And CBN’s Chuck Holton reports that drug cartels are trafficking migrants to northern California and then forcing them to work on illegal marijuana farms. These black-market farms are producing cannabis that’s tainted with toxins and are also threatening California’s water supply.
