Record Number of Americans Support Israel Against Hamas as Terrorists Now Hold 222+ Hostages
A significant new poll shows the U.S. public is rallying behind Israel as it responds to the massacre of civilians by Hamas, but it also shows less support for America’s role in the war.
The Wall Street Journal/Ipsos poll shows 42% said the U.S. should side with Israel, a record high since 2002, while only 3% said the U.S. should take the Palestinians’ side. Only 38% said the U.S. should commit American troops to help Israel if it is attacked by its neighbors.
In the past week, U.S. forces have faced attacks by Iranian proxies in the Middle East. There have been several drone attacks against U.S. bases in Iraq. Last Thursday, over a nine-hour period, an American warship in the Red Sea shot down 15 drones and four missiles launched by Iranian-backed forces in Yemen.
